About Us

The Rotary Club of Fredericktowne was chartered in November of 1983. The Club was proposed by the Rotary Club of Frederick as a club that would meet in the evening to encourage the recruitment of excellent member candidates who worked out of the County or would not be able to meet at noon. The sponsors of the new Club were Past District Governor Dr. James Sensenbaugh and Rotarian Herb Bloom. Encouragement from these founding fathers resulted in a charter membership of 25 members. The Club has followed the Rotary motto "Service Above Self" as encouraged by Herb Bloom and the model of education support set in place by Dr. Sensenbaugh. We continue to support scholarships at Frederick Community College, assist with a high school Interact Club, and participate in community and international programs and projects. In the 20 years of service, the Club has strived to be a major part of the Frederick Community.

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and
Foster the ideal of service as a basis of
Worthy enterprise and, in particular, to
Encourage and foster:

First. The development of acquaintance as
An opportunity for service:

Second. High ethical standards in business
And professions; the recognition of the
Worthiness of all useful occupations; and
The dignifying by each Rotarian of their
Occupation as an opportunity to serve
Society;

Third. The application of the ideal of
Service by every Rotarian to their personal
Business, and community life;

Fourth. The advancement of international
Understanding, goodwill, and peace through
A world fellowship of business and professional
Persons united in the ideal of service.

THE 4-WAY TEST
Of the things we think, say, or do

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all Concerned?
  3. Will it Build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all Concerned?
